Menu Selections: Max 'n Cheese, The Fried Egg Sandwich, Shrimp & Grits
This place is an oldie yet goodie (for me, anyway). The perfect place for a group of girls to get together and chat over some wine or bubbly while indulging on some finger licking good comfort food or great for a casual, yet nice date. How else can I describe fried chicken with champagne?? It’s dimly lit and appears that you would order cheese and almond platters, but as I stated, you order fried chicken. It’s rather small inside, so reservations are always a great idea…even on a Monday. The serving staff is always friendly and more than willing to help with a suggestion. However, you don’t need to ask if you’re looking for one of their appetizers-I can tell you right now-get the Max and Cheese. It’s absolutely the most intoxicating macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had. The cheese almost has a consistency of gravy and is topped with a slight crunch of a baked goodness. After you’ve completely delved into that (licked the bowl, perhaps), you’ll need a to-go box for what is left to come. The entrée portions could easy feed 3 and are equally as succulent. The fried egg sandwich will knock your socks off with the butter toasted bread, plentiful gourmet cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce and tomatoes (the vegetables make it healthy, right?). The shrimp and grits seems innocent enough with the shrimp, however, the jalapeño cheesy grits take it to another level. Their salads aren’t finicky with their ingredients either. Whatever you order, you can’t go wrong….and come with an appetite. The only down side that I can possibly pinpoint is that most of the wine might be a little on the pricey side, but it’s comparable to other wine bars in the vicinity. Check it out, if you haven’t already! And wear elastic pants
Will I be back? Of course. A staple in the mix.
